New guy from Kentucky

Hey, I've been wanting to brew my own beer for some time now. Hopefully this forum will steer me in the right direction on what to buy for a decent home brewers kit.

You are in the right place. I just started brewing last spring and have found the BN to be a wealth of knowledge and expertise, in addition to being a fountain of nonsense and oddity. Hang out here long enough and you'll see for yourself. :bnarmy:

Welcome Wanker! You will find lots of great info here tucked in between chunks of good natured asshattery. One place you should start is John Palmer's www.howtobrew.com . This will answer all the basic questions and give you an idea of what questions to ask next. John even shows up here on the forum from time to time under the screen name of howtobrew. He is also featured with Jamil Zanisheff on the BN show "Brew Strong" every other Monday night where they discuss more technical aspects of brewing. You can download the first two episodes from the links on the home page here.

Glad to see you here.

This forum will get you headed in the right direction. Just make sure you only trust the advice for the brewing stuff. Beyond that, it's all at your own risk...

Welcome to the hobby and the forums!

Welcome Wanker! This is a great crown to learn from....you couldnt be in better (or worse) hands. Where abouts in KenTuck are you? The Liquor Barns in Louisville and Lexington have a pretty good assortment of brewing supplies, including kits....not to mention a pretty good assortment of commercial beer to, uh, calibrate with. Let me know if you need any help from us her at Wyeast. Prost!

I live in Richmond but work in Lexington. I've looked at the selection of stuff they have at Liquor barn. I'm debating on ordering a kit from MoreBeer.com.

BrewTa2, did you call in to the last Sunday Session? I remember the name. I've listened to both Sunday Sessions that are on iTunes. Both have been interesting so far because I like Arrogant Bastard and I want to go to BJ's in Louisville.
