Been MIA - resurfacing in Sacramento

Sat Jul 26, 2008 1:49 pm

Hey BN Army,

It's been a while... been busy graduating and moving out to the left coast, but I'm settling in in Sacramento, and wondering whats up with homebrew clubs and good brew pubs in the area! My brewing equipment didn't make the cut for the first round of stuff to make it out here from the east coast (my girlfriend needed a place to sit) but im itching to brew...

Glad to be in the same time zone as the BN

Cheers

I work in Sac.
BrewPubs in order (in my opinion of best beer):
Rubicon
SacBrew
Hoppy

Hoppy has a slight edge on food but the other are fine

Hombrew club not sure Placerville I think has a pretty good club or you could always join President/Brewcaster Doc's DOZE.

Pretty good beer bar from what I hear in Folsom callen Mandere's (or something like that)

Beer Stores:
BevMo on Arden
Corti Brothers on Folsom
Nugget
Whole Foods

Dont Forget Gold Country Brewers in Sacto as well as BASS.
Elk Grove Brewing is good. River City Brewing is ok. Overpriced. Brew It UP. a Brew on premisis. Good selection. Brewmiester in Folsom for your H/B needs. They can also help out with places to go. Kevin Pratt works at Brewmiesers. You can tell him Peter from Manteca sent you. If he doesnt sock you in the eye he might pour you a beer :pop

MANteca that's the name of a town that should host a Lunch Meet remote!

Looks like you drove twice as far as the Shat-a-lac to get to the Bunny Mead tasting remote a few weeks ago.

Good job Peteadink and too bad no one else from the BN in the Bay Area joined you at that remote in Sunnyvale.

Im lucky enough to have a wife that when it comes to going places related to beer or the BN shes usualy OK with it. I cant count how many long drives we have taken just for the sake of beer. I still have to make sure it will fit in with our budget as well as family time. If we lived closer to the Bay Area Id love to make even more events. So many things so little money.
Ohh Original Homebrew Outlet in Sac. is kinda hit n miss on quality ingredients and service. there is also a beer bar called Mangeers?? I think thats the name. I hear its a good spot.
