I sure hope the Pens show up for game 2, aside from those power plays in the first they looked lost. I also hope someone in the NHL tells the referees what goaltender interference really is...

Fleury kept the Pens in the game, no doubt about that. However, he made a couple of bonehead moves during the game. On the first goal, he was out of position, not really on the actual first part of the sequence when he had the shooter coming in ON him, but he was out of position when the shooter went around the net. You can tell that he was not thinking about a wrap-around goal. He should have had his right skate on the post to help him push towards the left side of the net. For me, that was a soft goal.

I was not impressed with the Pens at all last night. Crosby, Malkin and Hossa need to wake up.
Detroit did a great job and they will win easily if the Pens play like a bunch of pussies.

Good summary Shunt. The wrap around was the turning point. Funny thing is, if he wouldn't have thrown his skate out there, they wouldn't have scored.

yeah... I'm hoping the game tonight is a little better. The only line that even had any energy for the Pens was the Crosby, Hossa line... and that's not saying a lot. That's why it's a series and not a single game.

Anyone have a good place in San Francisco to watch the game?? I called the 21A last night to see if they get Versus... they said "yes", but if people want to watch the Basketball game, then that's what gets turned on. No one has respect for hockey anymore. Any suggestions??

GO PENS!!!

OUCH! Can I re-revise my prediction back to my original call... Detroit in 5?

Shut out two nights in a row? Pittsburgh just doesn't know what to do out there!!! They can't even get through the neutral zone or get a freaking shot on goal!

I will say one thing, Crosby has stepped up his game. He's not getting any results, but he's showing he's got fight in him. There were several times I saw him run into a crowd, and instead of his usual dive, he actually showed how strong he is and fought through it, and didn't stop moving.

Hopefully they can turn things around at home, but the Detroit defense is stifling. How the hell did the Predators win two games against the Wings?

A sweep wouldn't surprise me at this point. When Crosby is the only one trying on the ice, you will lose 100% of the games.

And as BE said, the Wings D is not letting anything happen. The Pens didn't have a SINGLE "5 on 5" shot on goal in the first period. Not one. and only racked up 6 in the PP.

This is exactly NOT what hockey needed right now. I hope to god the Pens can make this a series ... even though I want them to lose. ;)

The Wings were not playing like this against the Preds. They weren't playing that well, and Hasek wasn't making the saves. After they put Osgood in, they started playing how they are capable of, feeding off of him bailing them out when they'd make a mistake. I think the Pens will make game 3 competitive at least. They need an early goal to get some confidence though, they don't play all that well when trailing.
