Welcome, Swihart! Purdue grad, eh? So, WTF is all about that boilmaker drink? You're ruining your beer with the shot. Do you do that because you guys only have access to PBR?

It's terribly confusing I'm sure, at least for some, but the so-called drink called a Boilermaker has nothing to do with Purdue or the reason they're called the Boilermakers.

There's quite a lot of very nice commercial craft-brew available throughout Indiana, although Ohio and Kentucky have some wonderful stuff our distributors just don't seem to provide. It's great fun, when going to Cincinnati to judge, to shop at Dilly Deli and at "The Party Source."

Lafayette Brewing Company has since 1993 been a source of happiness and a little pride to those who like fresh, locally made, beer. Let me know if you'll be passing through our town and I'd be pleased to buy your first pint.

Whitebeard --

My husband's beard is still rather red, but his hair is pure white. Redheads don't seem to go gray; they get blonder and blonder until it's platinum.

No beer porn photos, not quickly though. I think of that as a "guy thing" although I know that's over-simplified. Here's me with a friend (who is my kids' age), I think this was Big Brew 2005.

Somewhere I've got a few pictures of brew days, but my "brew set up" is just pots and converted kegs, burners and a couple small garage tables. No welded iron stands. I have the 1/25th HP pump but I use it mostly just to clean and sanitize the Therminator. I have a 10-year old JSP mill which a friend recently motorized. (I am not what you'd call mechanically challenged, but actually doing that myself was not appealing to me and it was to him. He used my mill as a practice exercise to learn from before he buys and motorizes a mill of his own.)

I started brewing in 1981, but I'd have to say that of about 300 batches I've "brewed" (I'm counting meads and ciders and wine too), over 200 of them have been in the past 8 - 10 years.
