Hello from Montana/Scotland

Tue Mar 06, 2007 3:41 pm

Hello, been listening to the archives for a few months and have just gotten caught up to the present. Justin even read an e-mail from me on the air last Sunday, so I feel famous. Thanks Justin. Born and raised in the grain belt of Montana, but been working as an engineer since finishing school six years ago. Currently living in Scotland for a year while the wife goes to school. Next fall when we return I am giving up engineering and going home to farm…and yes we raise malt barley. Even though it will likely be crap, I hope to try malting someday just to say I did it from scratch (hint hint - show idea). After many extracts, I was just starting to gather all-grain gear when we moved. Can’t wait to get home to setup my brewery…until then I will have to settle for cask conditioned Scottish Ales from the local pub. Life is rough.
No brew list here, sadly my equipment is locked in the barn patiently awaiting my return. I miss you brew equipment:(

Wow, that kicks so much ass in so many ways. A remote from the farm sounds like a great idea except you'd lose all your goats to Dr. Scott.

Where is Scotland are you? Macclesfield Rocks.

Living in Edinburgh. 700+ pubs. To bad it is $5+ for a beer. Remote from the farm would kick ass…except most of my redneck friends are yellow piss water fans, but fixing that is priority #2 (after setting up the brewery). I must say browsing this forum has a whole different dynamic as may of the names are already familiar. I feel as if I am amongst royalty.

Welcome to the forum. Now that you are caught up on the archives you will need to start getting up at 3:00 a.m. on Monday mornings so you can catch the show live.

I've always liked the idea of making beer from dirt. Trouble is the dirt here sucks, so you do it and tell us all about it, mmm-k?

Is it possible to get DOTW mid-week?

I thought about it. Maybe I'll have to do a late nighter and call in for drunk of the week.

Look up a few lines to your own quote :)

My previous post was immediately after a long scoresheet/beer review session, so typing was a challenge. Felt very much like DOTW at that time.
