I'm An Idiot

Sat Jun 08, 2013 10:08 am

I started brewing in 2007, but just last night I made my worst brewing mistake ever...

After finishing an Ordinary Bitter on my newly upgraded system I was ecstatic about how well the brew went, hitting my numbers all along the way. As I chilled my wort I started to drain the StarSan out of my fermenter - a 60L Speidel plastic fermenter (http://morebeer.com/products/speidel-pl ... ?site_id=9) - through the spigot.

Once cool I began transferring my wort to the fermenter and sat down to talk to my wife. A few minutes later I looked over an saw that there wasn't much in the fermenter. Horror struck my face when I looked in the kettle and saw that it was empty too.

Then it hit me...I forgot to close the spigot on the Speidel before I started transferring. All but about a half gallon of my 6 gallon batch was running down my driveway. I fell to the ground, and after a long sigh I yelled, "I'm an idiot!"

....time to put on the :asshat:

It was only a matter of time that you would reach the same level of idiocy that all of us who have brewed for any length of time have achieved. Welcome to the club! Many of us have done worse.

Been there. Wife doesn't help any more.

Just keep telling yourself the beer was infected and you dumped it on purpose.

Sorry for your loss.
