Peeber, motherasshatters. Partly cause it's the only 'merican lager that has flavor & partly because the cat took an interest in the new tap handle while I was in the garage. About 3 gallons of interest all over the floor. At least it was just a test batch blonde. The mopping sucked worse than the loss.

Got some kegs cleaned today so I can dump both conicals tomorrow & a ton of prep work done in the 'garden' for the rhizomes cdburg sent up this way. Now to get my nerd on for an episode of BSG before I call it a bitch & slap it... I mean call it a night. Jesus, is this really #13 already? This shit goes down too quick.

New local saison that's pretty good, along with the end of the bottling bucket of my saison, which finished at 1.005 with the new Belle Saison strain. 8.6%, should be decent.

No spoilers! :D I'm getting towards the end of season 2. Just got past the episode with Scar. I've never been much for scifi, but I watched the Caprica prequel series first & got sucked in. Pretty damn good show.

The only part that really bothers me is the intro. Instead of just giving you a couple clips from the last episode as a reminder or to catch you up, they want to re-show you the whole damn series. At this rate I think the last episode will start out with clips from the first. It's just kind of annoying.

On topic: Yellowstone Coffee's Sumatra. Mmmm. Waiting for this rain to let up so I can get some more progress cleaning up my little plot of dirt for my rhizomes. 6" of rocks & under that looks like the old Bozeman dump. The previous tenants here were real pieces of shit. I thought I finally fixed everything they fucked up but keep finding more and more.

Pepe Nero from Goose Island

I don't typically buy Goose Island's beers, but after Justin was blowing them on air I figured I'd give this one & Sofie a shot (haven't seen Matilda available in Montana yet). Wow. What an amazing let down. I don't know if InBev's acquisition has changed these at all, but I'm seriously not impressed. Perhaps they were mishandled, but they both tasted clean & fresh so I'm doubting it. The best thing I can say about either one was Pepe had a nice creamy head & neither had offensive off-flavors. Other than that I can brew circles around either one of these beers without trying. Neither was 'bad' per se, but from their history & experience I expected a lot more than just drinkable, as in I can swallow it without spitting it back out. Hell, I expect more from a 5 year all grain vet who has a rudimentary understanding of water chem. If it weren't for the fact that everything in my kegerator is still carbing, I'd very likely dump the 2nd half of this bottle. Very disappointed & I'm wishing I hadn't wasted my money on either one of these bombers. Even with Matilda's hype, I definitely won't waste more money for something that might be barely ok.

Edit: I got to the end of the first glass & changed my mind. I've got some PBR in the fridge. Fuck this shit. Dumped.

Laguanitas Maximus

Motherfrakker, these guys can brew. Not my 1st, 2nd or 50th time drinking this beer, but it fills my :nutters: with joy every time I crack a bottle. Wait... did I just say 'Frak'? I gotta lay off the BSG... or not. So far the only disappointment was following the recommended viewing order's instructions to watch the webisodes, The Resistance. Crappy quality, there's a new 'episode' every 3rd line & was a bit of a waste of time. I skipped Razor as well since I couldn't find it free or on NetFlix. I doubt I'll go back for it. Did anyone really give a shit about the Pegasus anyways?
