Fridge Gasket

I've got a 1980's Gibson refrigerator that needs a new gasket on the door. Ordering a new part designed for this fridge (model: RT19F8WMGJ) is quite expensive and difficult to get.

Does anyone have any advice or experience in this arena?

Get a different old fridge from someone for $50.

That's much easier in an urban area. Rural Arkansas doesn't provide for the many $50 fridges. Too much deer meat stored up, I guess.

I use a company called PDQ which is usually pretty reasonable and lots less expensive than a local appliance shop. Good luck.

Check out your local hardware store. There is a wide variety of weatherstripping to choose from. Some of the wider ones may work. On my kegerator, I use some 2" foam weatherstripping designed for use when installing topper on pickup trucks.

Just an update. I bought some heavy duty auto car door weather stripping and replaced the door shelves with some fiberglass shower board. My plan is to keep the door closed with either a hasp from my local hardware store, or a strap-style child lock.

Just lean a 2 X 4 against it or put a cinderblock in front.
