BEER EMERGENCY: There is a new gimmick beer coming to market soon called "Chick Beer." it is artificially colored pink to appeal to women. I propose that we brewers try to nip this in the bud by giving birth to a new beer style: American Pink Ale. (I'm NOT kidding people.) So let's get to brewing and develop a style of creamy pink Lusciousness than any man (or woman) would be proud to wrap their lips around.
Reinheitsgebot only people, please, no artificial dyes, fruit juices or other colorants. Just grain, water hops and yeast!

Try using some red Thai rice. It turns the water red when you cook it.

You got me there. But it did not really get it red. Kind of a dark red hue. Base beer was an english pale ale but ended up looking more like a too dark irish red ale. I don't think you could get it to stop at just a nice pink without getting it to dark.

Not sure how to get a pink color without adding some sort of fruit like cherries or pomegranate. Not even sure the red rice I mentioned will work.

i have tried the red rice before but the colour doesnt make it through to the final beer at all.

C'mon. You guys are supposed to be among the best brewers in the world. Do I REALLY have to spell it out for you? No colorants other than the grain! My starting recipe will use a Flanders red base which makes a nice ruby red beer, then add a lot of unmalted and malted wheat to provide a nice white haze to the beer.The result should be a creamy pink beer with a rocky white head. I'm Not above introducing a non-spoiling bacterial infection to help with the haze, however.

The local brew pub did a pink beer for Breast Cancer in February. He took some red cactus fruit and juiced it. Add that to an american wheat and ferment. The beer was a vivid pink. Had a sort of wit flavor.

The brewer and I had discussed it before he brewed it. I had heard that you need to use a pound of the fruit per gallon, and he had heard one fruit per gallon. I think that's what he went with.
