That may become problematic since it is pretty ambigous on their website. They say they will allow all BJCP categories, which by common use is actually the sub categories.

The major category headings are simply agglomerations of similar parts to the styles. Some are based together on something as loose as color, while others; alcohol.

Look through the last few versions of the guidelines and you'll find Russian Imperial Stout in both the Strong Ale category and the Stout.... Problematic, indeed.

There will be many that make both an English and and American IPA. Quite distinct from each other. What happens if you make a Belgian Dubbel and Tripel? I suspect most will enter what they make best according to the sub categories. The organizers will just have to deal with it.

The full results from the Sam Adams homebrew comp have been posted! I took first in Category 10 for the southwest region with my American Brown!!! Woo Hoo!

Props should go out to Jamil too! I based my recipe on his American Brown but changed the hop schedule. It is a kick ass recipe! Unfortunately, the last few bottles weren't capped properly and are either flat or just plain bad. Oh well, time to brew it again!
