UPS has been killing me. The beer I sent out for the secret santa made it there fine, but I've tried sending stuff twice more and it hasn't made it. The first time was "damaged/undeliverable" during shipping, the second is listed as "payment received" but there doesn't ever seem to have been a delivery.

Curse you UPS! Drinking all my beer!

(Hey, maybe someone on this site works for UPS and just takes anything labeled yeast samples)

When you ship beer out, I am curious about the "failure" rate. Putting a carbonated liquid into a glass container and then subjecting it to the heat, vibration and outright abuse of the common shipping companies really scares me. Jamil and those guys that enter a million competitions must have it down to a science by now. I worry about shipping electronics and they are a lot less delicate than my beer bottles.

Plus, I want to look someone in the eye when they say my beer sucks.

That said, Ill probably send some to TBN once I get my bottle-from-a-keg hookup worked out. If nothing else, it can drive more of those weenies to wine, as they were all drinking on the last show. Jeeze.

Ok here's why I am going to hell.

I recently sent a beer to a comp in WV. The Moutain Brewers Open. The collection point for this comp was Trinity Escopalian Church. Yep, that's right. So I carefull package my goods and take them down to the USPS (sin #1, sending alcoholic beverages via USPS is illegal).

The guy at the counter goes through the usual routine about fragile, liquid and all that. I calmly and straight faced say no (sin #2, lying is a sin).

As I walk out to my automobile, I thought, "OK, I'm going to hell for sure. You just stood in there and broke the law, and lied about sending beer to a church".

By the way, the beer arrived safely. I got a 31 for my dry stout and have thusfar avoided judgement day.

Without question, the greatest invention in the history of mankind is beer. Oh, I grant you that the wheel was also a fine invention, but the wheel does not go nearly as well with pizza.
