And I have found the forums to be lacking in number of posts and quality of posts. People tend to spend too much time tossing disparaging comments instead of actually helping people learn about homebrewing.
If you could get the podcasts to focus on the actual topic of homebrewing AND be suitable to listen to in the car with the kids, then I'll think about supporting. Until then I'll probably just stick with the NPR of homebrewing radio.
While you are definitely entitled to your own opinion, I notice that you have posted 7 times more than half of which do not have anything to do with helping people learn about homebrewing and the only topic you posted more than once in was the "I am a homebrewer" topic. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that you had a part in that and you are now all hurt that they didn't like your video. Part of being a homebrewer is also learning to accept criticism. None of us have made a perfect beer and none of us have made a perfect YouTube video. Yeah, the guys were a little harsh but some of their points were valid.
Besides Basic Brewing I haven't found any of the other shows to even be tolerable. They all have the same BS the only difference is the BN is funny. Oh yeah and they have better guests, broadcast live from the biggest beer events, more Ninkasi awards than any others, and by far more beer information than any of the other shows. If the session isn't for you listen to Brew Strong. If that doesn't give you words of brewing wisdom start your own show and maybe Jamil and John will learn stuff from you.
Well, I didn't really have any hand in the video. I was going to shoot some spots, but life got in the way and they never made it. But that is beside the point.
I came back here to take a look at the podcasts and see what's going on. Pretty much nothing. Very few posts and no info I don't get elsewhere. I don't post here helping others out, because I just generally don't care for the "extreme" attitude that pervades this forum. That's just me. I'm 40 yo and just a regular guy. I think this site is geared more towards younger men who still feel the need to pound their chest. That's my opinion, and I believe this thread was put here to get people's opinions? So the reason I don't post helping others, is that I don't hang out here.
As far as the brewcasts, it very well could be that I've listened to the Sunday Sessions most. Is that the only one where a bunch of people sit around being drunk? I honestly haven't checked all of them out enough to know which is which. I've had very good experiences with some show, especially the ones with guests who talk about brewing, and homebrewing. I'll try the other ones and see what they are like.
I like the comment about Jamil and John learning from me. Cute. I admit openly that I am no Jamil Z (sorry, JZ if I don't try to spell your last name correctly off the top of my head) or John Palmer. I highly respect them for their knowledge, experience, and dedication to the art and science of brewing. I will never be as talented as they are. I don't have the time or ambition to do what they do. I try to do the best I can with what I have. So please don't try to make it sound like I am arrogant towards the people who do these shows. In fact, I came back here trying to find which shows they were on, and which ones they were NOT on.
It's actually those guys and some others that drew me to the site. Again, if there are shows that feature them and other high-class people, then I'll check them out. As far as the Sunday Session, it's just not my thing.
Sorry if my comments were not taken well. I only gave my opinion, as I believed that this thread was set up for that purpose.
Cheers!
