Do YOU sniff airlocks too?

Mon Mar 23, 2009 10:52 am

OK who else here sniff's airlocks? Or should I ask who sniffs airlocks WITHOUT PANTS ON? Haha sounds so dirty when it's ask that way. Anywho, I'm Dell from up here in NY. I was once stationed in Mass where you couldn't buy beer on sundays and holidays or some crap like that and that is what got me into brewing. I just upgraded to all grain and right now my so called brewery consists of 2 turkey fryers w/7 gal SS pots, constructed my own CFC from BYO plans, homemade stir plate, 2 tap converted freezer kegerator, medical O2 w/ diffusion stone, two 10 gal corney kegs for fermenting and 7 five gal cornies. I'm sure i'm forgetting ALOT but that is the just of it.

I just, this past week, got three used kegs from the scrap yard in which I cut the top out of one and drilled a hole for a weldless bulkhead fitting.

Future project is some sort of brewing rig. 2 tier, 1 tier, 3 tier oh my. I have alot of research to do. Pimps, no Pumps, gravity, RIMS HERMS WTF?? Thats enuff for now.

Be careful where you put your nose. Sounds like you got a good handle on it soldier, but it's better if you brew with both hands!

Cheers and Welcome! :jnj

I'm a sniffer. Not only that, I have been known to put the baby monitor in the fermentation chamber so I can listen to the airlock bubble when I go to sleep.

Thats some funny shit. There was this one time (not at band camp though) where the fermentation was so strong that it nearly choked me out. It had to be the most bizzar sight but my wife and one of her friends just happened to walk by as I was on my hands and knees coughing hunched over the carboy. The look on their faces was priceless. She alwayss tells me that I'm weird, so I have to live up to it I guess.

Hey Grist Licker... That must be the most relaxing sound to fall asleep with. May your dreams be wet and sweet.

Apress... It's WAAYYYYY too f'n cold up here for the no pants thing.

Lets hear some of your funny stories. I know I got plenty...

PS: Thanx for the welcome aboard.
