Re: Bugeater's Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Amber

I ended up putting my BORCA in 21 Spice/Herb/Veg with a base style of "Amber Ale." I also pointed out in the comments section that the category descriptions lists a generic "wheat ale" as an example of a non-classic base style and that likewise I am entering a generic "amber ale." Hope it works!
What's on tap: Cream Ale, Imperial Blonde
Secondary: British Amber,
Primary: APA

I'll have to remember that.

Its just to vague for these things. Why can't "ale" simply be a base style? I am wondering if that is acceptable.

Just brewed it tonight. Burnt the oats my first try, but babied them the second time, and it worked out. Gotta say, some of the tastiest wort I've pulled out of the kettle in a long time. Thanks bug!

Yeah, oats can be touchy!

Any thoughts on bottling this without kegging equipment since the bourbon & spices are supposed to be added to the keg?

Sounds outstanding & I'd definitely make it for this winter but I haven't started kegging yet...

Would be a great beer for a fancy swing top or something too!

Since you're straining the spices, just add them to the bottling bucket with your priming sugar. Give it a gentle stir, and you should be GTG.

Ahh yes. You're right, straining the spices & not adding them as a whole. Shouldn't matter then bottling or not.

Thanks!
