Hi,

Thank you so much Maestro McDole! Your kindness, wisdom and generosity at NCHF this past weekend were extremely appreciated.

The Janet's Brown and Tasty's APA were flat out delicious, with the APA having my favorite aroma of the weekend!

Very glad to have met you, and thank you for all you do!

With a tip o' the cap,
Jeb (Gold Country Brewer's Association)

TastyMcD wrote:The target OG is 1.066 but the JBA is a pretty forgiving recipe. The hopping choices and level matches well with a wide range of finishing gravities. The Imperial version (1.074 OG) uses the exact same hop bill although some of that additional gravity is from sugar. You should be fine but I would consider drinking it fairly young before the hops start to drop out. Most people have no problem doing that. :)

Tasty

Tasty, would you mind sharing the Janet's Brown (Imperial) Recipe...how much sugar do you add to the normal AG recipe? If this is already posted somewhere, please help me navigate my way towards the tastiness!

I used a Pacman repitch when I brewed JBA, it turned out great.

I haven't made this yet but would like to. I picked up a pack of NB's new Neobritannia yeast that suppose to be suited for this style.
Any thoughts?

Janet's Brown Ale is an American Brown Ale and calls for a neutral yeast strain like Wyeast 1056 or White Labs WLP001. Wyeast 1945 is an English Ale strain suitable for English browns. Of course you can use any yeast you want. I'd just back off on the dark grains in a Janet's Brown.

Tasty, I just have to say thank you for the amazing recipe. I just had my first taste of my Janet's Brown, and even only after 1 week in the bottle it is hands down the best beer I have ever brewed. I can't believe this thing has the amount of alcohol it does.. it's so smooth!! I'm making another batch right away, and it's going to be on constant rotation.

Cheers!
