Foam Control

FermCapS is freaking amazing. Bringing 15 gallons to a boil in a 15.5 gallon keggle, put 2 drops per gallon in the boil pot as the wort was heating up and that bitch didn't even think about boiling over.

Why did I wait so long to pick this stuff up?!?!

Yes it is amazing stuff. I don't have the boil kettle problem but I do use it in the fermenter. Since I started using it in my carboy a couple years ago I have never needed a blowoff tube. Saves a lot of cleanup.

If you are using Fermcap S in wort boil, is it necessary to also add to the fermenter? If so, do you use the same rate per gallon?

Used it for the first time a while ago and was awesome in the boil. However, it must denature or something in the boil... both my wit with the white labs belgian blend and stout with pacman pushed right thru the airlock.

I added into fermenters at something like 1.5 drops per gallon and the krausen fell to something more reasonable. Don't know if that's the right amount tho, it could have just been timing for me.

I do love not having to worry about a boilover tho. Still learning how much should go in the fermenter and am interested to see what everybody else says.

For those on the fence with this, I finally tasted the first batch that I brewed using Fermcap S (a lightly hopped pilsner) and there wasn't a single negative effect to the beer's flavor. Its was as clean as any commercial beer I've had.

This stuff just works, and works well. Have done 3 more batches since with excellent results...

My foam control is a tall enough pot.

Fermcap does other things you know. I've read that it reduces krausen and blow off.
HEY~!! It's a hobby~!! It's NOT supposed to make sense~!!
