WLP550

Mon Apr 28, 2008 5:08 am

I'm just about to make a starter from the WLP550 strain, and was wondering if it is an ok choice for a Belgian pale ale. I have very little experience with White Labs yeast (we basically don't get it at all here, I got this vial from England), so I'm kind of curious as to whether I have chosen the right beer style to brew...

WLP550 is the Achouffe strain. I just made a Belgian Golden Ale with this yeast OG = 1.050, FG = 1.012 that tastes very nice. Like a low alcohol version of La Chouffe.

Sounds good, just about right up my alley. I'm going for an OG of 1052 with 26 IBUs.

Thanks!
