You rack to clear it. So I only rack when I get a good layer of yeast. Frankly way less than every month. Especially if you used a good pitch rate of yeast. Plus you don't want to leave a lot of head space after racking. Just make sure to sulfite at the proper amount. I just had some sweet mead pop their corks.

I've had my sweet mead sitting in the primary bucket for about 4 months. I don't know if I'll bottle it -- I just keep ladeling some out every once in a while for a taste and it's almost gone now. Taste is sublime -- zero off-flavors, and it's been clear as a bell since month #2.

i dont know why people are so up on racking it so many times. I get mine to ferment out in about 10 days by keeping the ph in the right range and it drops clear. i leave it on the yeast for a few months cause im super lazy. if i remember, i then rack it into a keg and there it sits till competition time :D
