I tried to write a bunch about my brewing, with no links and no pictures, but the board software didn't like me and told me that new users are restricted in what they can post. I'll try this shorter message.

O.k., that worked. Well, that was annoying. It told me I was restricted, but didn't tell me what was wrong. Oh, and there is nothing in the FAQ about this. Well, from my lurking I know there is a four post minimum for images, so now I'm half way there.

Oh thanks. I wanted to be hated for my fancy shiny brew sculpture (doesn't exist yet).

I've been lurking around here for a few weeks as I plan a brewing sculpture, and my questions are starting to pile up, so I decided to take the plunge and register. I would have done so a little sooner, but I had to throw some pictures up on the web first. Anyway, if you care, check out

There's not too much there, since I realized that every hour spent on a web site takes away an hour from brewing. But I put a few of those things together to answer some questions that seem to come up from time to time.

I've been brewing for about twelve years. I went to mini-mashes and all-grain (depending on the needed OG) within the first year or two after I took a class at my LHBS which demonstrated a cooler mash tun process. I made plenty of beers with a 5 gallon cooler mash tun. A few years ago I upgraded that to a 10+ gallon cooler mash tun with a HERMS system. Now I typically make 6-12 gallon batches, probably once a month or so.

My favorite beers to brew are smoked beers (I smoke my own grain) and fruit lambics. Last year I was awarded my first NHC medal for a smoked chipotle porter, and I received a Best in Show in the Colorado State Fair a few years ago for my kriek. After that, I regularly brew Berliner weisse, APA, a few British style ales, and a spectrum of lagers.

And as you can see, I like to write.

You seem to have a pretty good setup there.

There is a bunch of good info on the forum here and if you can't find an answer then ask in the appropriate section. Someone will get an answer to you fairly quickly usually. Of course you'll get alot of comments from the asshats here but some info will leak through also!

btw, watch out for bub!
