Hi all,

I am from Belgium and have been brewing for the last 3 years.
My 3 last brews were:
-Witbier (white-wheat)
-Orval clone (23 days Styrian+EK goldings dry hopping)
-Old Brown (sour)

For brown strong beers, I used to get fresh yeast from the monks of Rochefort. I like to use my own strains, when/if possible.

I'll have a look at the forum, it's always nice to share...

USA have the most active homebrewers community, so: total respect!

Belgium has some awesome brews, when I was living in the UK, me and a few mates would take day trips over on the hovercraft, load up on beer, and come back.....ahh those were the days!

I'm not sure that I would even try to brew my own if I lived in Belgium!

I agree. Which makes it all the more impressive to hear you're brewing at home.

And getting yeast from the monks at Rochefort. How awesome is that!

Welcome to the forums. Plenty of hopheads on here to teach you those tricks.

You probably need some good hoppy examples sent to you. I'll trade you some Stone for some Westvleteren 12 (uh, "yeast samples")! I wonder if said yeast samples would make it through customs...

note: Belgian brewers have a couple of all times winners but have the tendency to fall asleep on their reputation, which is dangerous: --> triple style, adding plenty of sugar to get over the 9%, abuse of hallertau, etc and bla bla bla... then Belgian homebrewers have to wake up and shake the house.
