Dumb avatar question

So how do I get a picture I've got on my hard drive to be my avatar? Bub's avatar has got me jealous...

The very, very short answer is to resize it if it is large, host it on a photo hosting service like Photobucket.com (or your own website for that matter), then update your profile to point to the hosted picture.
Search this forum for "Photobucket" and you will find step by step instructions.

Cool! Thanks Danny. Learned two things at once - now I know what to do with all those stupid pictures on my cellphone. I didnt' realize you could upload them to a website. Then I learned I could send pictures from my cell to my email account. damn, I'm becoming all high tech...

I can't get an avatar loaded. I have an image on a google blogger. I copy and pasted the URL for the image but nothing gets saved. WhadoIdo?

buff, the url that you have associated with your avatar is the url to download this photo. You need to upload the photo to a web hosting service like photobucket. Then you can link the photo to the hosting service.
