Beer Forum

Found the archives not too long ago, and now I can't get enough. Thought I'd try out the forum. I calculate that by the time I listen to what I've downloaded, it will be 2012. SHEESH! INFORMATION OVERLOAD!

anyway...name is Todd, and I live in O'Fallon, Mo just 20 minutes west of St. Louis. My buddies and I brew in my garage under the name of the Schiznit Brew Club. We brew mostly strong ales. Not too many lawn mower beers for us. Nothing against them...we just like that slap you in the face flavor overload. Belgians, Imperials, Strong....etc. We do make a couple smaller beers, but those are usually in order to make starters for our bigger beers.

I live in W. County and hang in Chesterfield, just across the river from you. There is a guy or two on here that is from O'Fallon.

I'm about 2.5 to 3 hours south in the MO bootheel, but I've got a buddy in STL that I come up and brew with every chance I get. I've been wanting to come up and try some brews from that O'fallon brewery, too. I've heard some good things about them. If any of you STL boys find yourself stuck in Southeast MO, give me a call and we'll have a brew.

I do also subscribe to the GBS, and most recently went to their Chili cookoff. I keep wanting to make their meetings, but I swear - its like I'm not meant to because something always happens on meeting nights. I have been to a Brews meeting, but that was a long time ago. Anyway - I go by the same name on the GBS as here.

O'Fallon has some really good stuff. I've been enjoying the O'Fallon Goats Breath Bock lately, but I really like their 5-Day IPA. I was at the brewery the other day and tried the Irish Red. I thought that was REALLY good. I believe Dave told me that if you go to McGurks - what they sell as McGurks Irish Red is actually contract brewed by O'Fallon.

I know Chesterfield well. I work in Chesterfield for American Electric Power River Operations right next to the mall behind the Library in the new building there.

I'm just about through my keg of Patersbier that I used for a starter for a Dark Strong Belgian. I like it a lot when paired up with good cheese and sausage. MAN - now I'm all thirsty! I on a big Belgian Ale kick right now. The strong is still in the carboy. I'll be bottling that up in Magnums tonight.

McGurks, O'Connell's, and several other places have a house branded beer that is that same thing, brewed by O'Fallon. I think O'Connell's calls it an amber.
