Sierra Nevada Says Hello.

Wed Oct 15, 2008 1:07 pm

Hi,

My name is Bill Manley and I work for the Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., in Chico, CA.
I've been a BN listener and an avid home brewer for years.

I got the chance to meet Chad Mosier from the BN at GABF where he introduced me to Mazen Hajjar, the brewer from Beirut, Lebanon.
Mazen is a crazy-fun guy whom, hooked up with the Sierra Nevada crew at the Falling Rock and got completely plowed, just like the rest of us.

I have to thank the BN for that, and I'm happy to finally join the forums.

So...hello.

Cheers!

Welcome to the madness, Bill. Glad you have you enlisted. I have always loved every beer from your employer. What do you do for them?

I am a communications guy for the brewery... So I do a lot of random things. I write all of the beer description and technical information about our beer. I work on new product development. I'm a media liason, and photographer.

Here's the cool part though... I am a beer-geek liason for the brewery as well. It's literally my job to know what's happening in the larger craft beer world, as well as the homebrewing and beer-food pairing worlds.

Lately, I've been going to beer festivals and on visits to other parts of the country tasting beer and talking with brewers and home brewers about what they're doing; and about the kinds of things they would like to see come out of the Sierra Nevada brewery.

Sierra Nevada never had anybody to do what I'm doing now, so the job is a bit nebulous...I've only been here 3 months and I'm still figuring out the details. I have to say, so far, I love it here, in regards to both the location and the job.

Prior to accepting the job at Sierra Nevada I had only set foot in the state of California once!

Cheers!

Let me say it before Bub gets to it - and I mean this with the utmost sincerity - I hate you.

Also, if you ever have to leave your job please send me a PM first...
