Greetings from a Rest Stop in Raleigh

Hello All

My wife recently bought me an iPod for my birthday and I was looking for podcasts and was fortunate enough to run across The Brewing Network. I am happy/demented enough to say that I am fully caught up on all of the sessions. Wow, 3 years in 6 weeks!!! My wife hates me.hahaha

I have been an archive listener, but I am ready to take the plunge and get to know everyone, especially at the Anniversary Party and NHC next year because I just got the "go ahead" from the wife for a family vacation. Which, by the way, she also authorized a camping trip to Rehoboth Beach, DE so I can check out the DFH Brewpub so apparently she might not hate me.

I have been a homebrewer for the last 7 years and went back to school to NC State to get a Bioprocessing Science degree which is the closest to beer I could get. I also work in the Beer Lab with the 2.5BBL pilot system and work on yeast genetics, nerdy I know, but I think I'm in the right place with this forum.

Sorry for the length, but I do tend to get long winded. Just want to say hi and if there any of you in the Raleigh area, give me a shout. I would love to get together and brew.

Thanks

Intoxicologist
"Nick"

Welcome aboard.

3 years in 6 weeks!!! That is impressive/scary. 3 years = 100+ shows in 36 days. That's almost 3 per day. With each being at least 2 or 3 hours you were full time for a while!

Let me guess. Either self employed or unemployed?

Thank you all for the welcome. Actually, not self employed or unemployed. I am working at a pharmaceutical company that requires a lot of bench work (sitting on my butt and doing cell work), so it gets REALLY boring. I'm really glad I found the BN to keep me from going insane.

I too work a boring repetitive job. Last December I main-lined 80hrs of Session in 4 days. Next comes the Jamil archive and finally, when you get jonesing so badly for a hit of asshat - there's some other show. After all the archives you just have to anxiously wait at iTunes like a kid waiting for his X-Ray Specs. Of course, when that other show gets posted it's pretty much just like getting the X-Ray Specs - you feel cheap, used and swindled. Next week you order Sea Monkeys.......

Sweet.

Alright, WTF is a Beer Lab? You're in the right place to be made fun of, Mr. Big-bus-riding Smartypants. j/k I'm sure you can help us with our budding little buddies.
Welcome to the whatever!

Welcome aboard! I like the choice of user name...

And don't worry about nerdy fitting in around here. You'll do fine.
