As another stuck in Louisiana (from St. Louis area) at least for the next 5 years, welcome. What part of the state you in? I feel your pain on finding good brew. It is here though and if you are in my area there are a few good places to get a cold craft brew. We have Abita here. Most rave about it. It is OK but I am not a huge fan. For a partying culture, they sure are stuck on B** Light here. I am seriously considering opening a Craft Brew establishment here.

The lack of craft brew in this area does suck a bit but you can still get good beer. Well, I guess that does depend on where you are.

This state has some of the nicest people, best food, awesome festivals, and hot girls on the planet.
Though, I'm not sure why one would say there are no "smart chics" here, that sounds like an ignorant generalization to me, just sayin'

Anyway we have a pretty good little homebrew club here, how far are you from Lafayette?

Welcome brotha,
Prost

Anyone in Louisiana that thinks they're stuck in hell has never been to Hannibal, MO. No beer, no food, vapid would be a step up for "chics" around here.

He has a point. I have been to Hannibal many times. I wouldn't want to live there.

I'm in the Baton Rouge area, so the saving grace is being an hour from New Orleans... Yeah, I'm just being a little bitch about things because in MI, it was a 15 minute drive and I was at Arcadia brewing with a huge mug and lots of really good brew, or drive to Kalamazoo and have my pick of Bell's, the brewery across the street or the other brewpub three streets away. Thanks for the warm reception!

I wouldn't want to live anywhere outside of Texas. But that's just me.

I live outside BR toward N.O. in Gonzales. In Baton Rouge I go to the Chimes East on Coursey if I am in the mood to sample numerous brews. They have around 60 on tap and great food. Happy's downtown is a decent little Irish Pub but not a wide selection. Just you standards like Guinness and the such on tap.

If I go to New Orleans I normally go to Lagers in Metairie on Veterans next to the Lakeside Mall. They have around 75 beers on tap and serve with nitrogen. Good beer there. The Bulldog on Magazine is fine to and own the Lagers joint as well. Last time I was at Lagers they said they were working on coming to BR.

Hey, you guys have vapid chicks with fake boobs in the Bay Area, too. But they also usually have fake vaginas to go with their fake boobs, and they have to shave twice a day.
