Craft brew lover and aficionado since 1992. Talked about homebrewing since then. Finally decided to walk the walk while drinking at Founders in summer '07. Brewed first batch (robust porter) on 9-1-07. I've brewed 15 batches since then, and I'm consumed by it. Currently using partial mash technique given the equipment I have, but I just bought a 10 gal Megapot with spigot & thermometer from Northern Brewer. I'm f-ing geeked!

Primary: Oatmeal Stout
Bottle conditioning: California Common (The Rockford Steamer), Dry Irish Stout
Drinking: Amber Ale, Smoked Porter, Oatmeal Stout
Next brews: JZ Cream Ale, JZ Amber, Sweet Stout

Looking forward to lagers once I can get my hands on some kind of cold storage.

Welcome, ham. Jealous of your proximity to the fine beers from Bells.

Where's your avatar pic taken?

Avatar is my son looking into the brewery from the pub at Founders Brewing, Grand Rapids, MI. They have some of the most outstanding beers I've ever had in my life.

I lived in Kalamazoo for 10 years...was a regular at Bells. You have to try the beer at the brewery - no comparison.

I'll be in Ft Myers in 2 weeks. Where do I go for good beer down there?

You don't, as far as I know. I live about 30 miles N of Ft. Myers and have never heard of a good beery destination down that way. Pubquest tells me that at least there is a Hops down there on S. Cleveland Ave.

Sarasota is a different story - Sarasota Brewing Co, Cock & Bull pub are both good. In Bradenton there is the Lost Kangaroo. After that you have to head to Tampa.
What's on tap: Cream Ale, Imperial Blonde

Had their Two Hearted Ale on tap here a couple nights ago. Best IPA I've had. Amazing hop flavor, good balance.

As for the FL beer recommendations, I'll concur with DannyW since I'm not too sure...

Looks like there's a few Michigan Brewers on this forum. I currently reside closer to the east side of the state about 15 minutes from Frankenmuth. They got a decent brewery there called Sullivan's Black Forest...excellent Porter though.
