Giddy Up

Fri Aug 08, 2008 5:59 pm

Just found the BN recently and DAMN glad I did. I've been listening to The Jamil Show and The Session for about two weeks now, and love it! I’ve been brew’n since September, but I’ve been planning on it for years. Don’t know what the hell took me so long. I’m a mechanical engineer in the Austin, TX and work in the Wind Power Industry…so Justin should like that I’m do’n my part to be “Green”. I have two year old twin daughters, which we refer to as the Rowdy Girls…and they certainly live up to that name. They love to help me on brew day and won’t have it any other way.

Right now I have a sweet mead in secondary, a black ale aging with oak and whisky in secondary (thank you Jamil for the show and tips on oak aged beers), a Belgian Wit in Primary (thanks again Jamil for the tips there too), and a Sam Adams Summer Ale Clone in the keg and another Belgian Wit in bottles. My next batch will be an experiment with Mesquite Beans (a bean produced by Mesquite trees). My grandmother makes jelly out of them and they have a good honey flavor…I’m thinking of making a Mesquite Bean Wheat beer, but I’m open to suggestions. After that some friends and I are going to start brewing each of the BJCP styles using the Jamil Show and “Brewing Classic Styles” as a guide, this will be in addition to the stuff we want to brew on our own.

That’s about it for me…again love the BN shows and cant wait to get involved in the BN Army…HOOAH!!

Welcome

I'm interested in how the mesquite comes out - we have what I think is the same tree here, but it is called kiawe (key-ah-vay).
