Northern Jersey cheching in....

Thu Jan 26, 2006 2:22 pm

I'm just posting a quick hello to everyone. I have only recently began listening to the BN and I am hooked. I have started with the archives and am trying to catch up to current times. So far I have gone through the Papazian the Gadget shows. One of these days I'll listen live, but for now the mp3's are great with me.

Oh, and a bit of background on me is that I've been homebrewing on and off for about 4 years, but only have about 15 batches under my belt. I am hoping to have at least 12 in 2006, if I stick to my 1/month plan. I took the ABG course, apprenticed at a local micro and attempted to break into brewing for a career move, but it just didnt work out. I am hoping down the line to open up a kick-ass beer depot or BOP.

Buff, welcome to the forum. Jersey could definitely be more homebrewer friendly as far a getting supplies. I usually have to drive an hour to Pennsylvania. Are you familiar with the BOP in Freehold?

What part of North Jersey are you from? I brew with a club out of Woodbridge. We meet at J.J. Bitings micro.

I live in Passaic Cty, in Wanaque. I've heard of the BOP in Freehold and one of these days I'll get down there to check it out. There are a few clubs up in my area, but I havent managed to get to a meeting yet. The meeting are about a 45 minute drive for me and they usually meet at 8 or 9 so by that time I ususally don't feel like heading back out from home during the week. Call me a lazy SOB i guess...

I did manage to brew this past weekend though. I was short on ingrediants so I had to fudge it a bit. It's ok, as it was an experimental brew, trying to make something useful from a MrBeer can of malt.
